THE HOTEL

THE HOTEL

First a thought, then an approach, and finally a form—Hakanto House, which literally means “the house of aesthetics,” is far more than a hotel: it is a work imagined and shaped by Joël Andrianomearisoa, an internationally renowned artist whose creations travel across the world.

With Hakanto House, the Malagasy artist creates a place in his own image—an environment where contemporary art meets local craftsmanship, where every detail, from furniture to everyday objects, conveys an emotion, a story, a gesture. Conceived with the same delicacy as his artworks, this house of aesthetics draws its soul from the richness of Malagasy materials and the diverse geographies that inspire the artist.

Hakanto House is a dialogue between art, design, and craftsmanship, expressed through unique objects and creations that embody an attitude, an intention, an identity. Nothing is left to chance: each space is a complete aesthetic experience in itself. The hotel reveals this singularity through its understated and refined rooms, its welcoming restaurant, its private club-bar, its co-working spaces, and its boutique of special editions—each designed to offer every visitor a unique experience, blending art, comfort, and emotion.

A true extension of Hakanto Contemporary, one of the major cultural venues in the Malagasy capital, Hakanto House embodies Joël Andrianomearisoa’s vision of placing art at the heart of life.

Here, hospitality becomes a creative act, and every stay an encounter with aesthetics.

THE RESTAURANT

THE RESTAURANT

In a setting that is both chic and relaxed, the Hakanto House restaurant cultivates the art of sincere, inspired cuisine, served throughout the day. Imagined by artist Alexandre Gourçon, the space gently reinterprets the codes of a French-style brasserie, infused with Malagasy flavors.

Within this elegant yet informal atmosphere, time is shared around the table: whether for a business lunch, a coffee, a drink, or dinner with friends, each moment becomes an experience of conviviality and taste. The menu blends great European classics with essential Malagasy dishes, creating a subtle harmony between tradition and modernity.

Hakanto House Restaurant celebrates the pleasure of sharing, the generosity of local produce, and the refinement of culinary craft.

The club

The club

Nestled within Hakanto House, the club is an exclusive space where day and night become a true aesthetic experience. In the intimacy of an exceptional setting, time seems suspended—light, sound, scents, and flavors intertwine subtly to awaken the senses.

Between delicate dishes and signature cocktails, members of a discerning community savor the richness of encounters, the refinement of shared moments, and the magic of a unique atmosphere.

Hakanto House Club reinvents the art of hosting: each evening becomes a composition, each guest a protagonist in a scene that is both elegant and discreet—a dialogue.

CONTEMPORARY

Hakanto Contemporary celebrates and supports artistic creativity in Madagascar. Dedicated to promoting the richness of Malagasy contemporary art, this independent, non-profit space for artists was launched in February 2020.

Under the artistic direction of Joël Andrianomearisoa, the two spaces located in Ankadimbahoaka, in the southern part of the capital Antananarivo, contribute to dialogue between local and international artistic worlds, while affirming the uniqueness of Malagasy culture.

Open and free to all, Hakanto Contemporary is a meeting place for artists and audiences from around the world. In addition to collective and individual exhibition programs that showcase works from across Madagascar and beyond, Hakanto Contemporary offers residency spaces dedicated to artists.

The center attempts to enhance exchanges, strengthen skills, and launch creative projects that both represent and support the local art scene.

Hakanto Contemporary is a project by Joël Andrianomearisoa and Hasnaine Yavarhoussen, supported by the Yavarhoussen Fund.
